My First Vacation with my son!

This post corresponds to the Momic chapter: “Vacation.” You can read it on Webtoon here.

This first week of August I went on my first family vacation with my son, and it was a blast. My parents, brother, aunt and son drove to Wildwood New Jersey to enjoy the beach, boardwalk, and food.

Since there was six of us and one car we implemented a one-backpack rule. But, it became quickly apparent that it was going to be a challenge to fit everything in the trunk.

Especially because the baby had more items than all of us.

I wish someone had told me before I had a kid, just how many accessories they come with! I mean, I did kind of get a sense of that when I created my baby registry. Adding products to that gave me a headache for a whole week.

But travelling…that was  a whole new beast to tackle. I had to bring diapers. Wipes. Clothes. Extra clothes. Extra diapers. Extra wipes. Medicine if he got sick. The thermometer. The boogie snatcher. His stroller. His changing pad. Blankets. Something for him to sleep in. The list goes on…

My mom had asked me the day before if I had packed everything and I told her:

“It’s only a weekend trip. It’ll only take me 10 minutes to pack.”

Well reader, I was very very very wrong.

Someday soon I will write a checklist of all the items I brought on that weekend trip so you won’t have the headache I had assembling his bag together. My brain even hurts thinking about it now.

But, packing nightmares aside, I had a great time! Some of my favorite memories include taking my son in the pool for the first time, bringing him to the beach, staging an eaten-cake photo op at the buffet, and dressing him in the cutest outfit that the neighbors bought him.

I know he won’t remember, but I will.
