Weapons of Mass Grabstruction

This post corresponds to the Momic chapter: “weapons of mass grabstruction.” You can read it on Webtoon here.

My son has learned the fine art of grabbing. Naturally chaos ensues.

The first victims to his new found fine-motor skills were my earrings. Then, my phone. It was only a matter of time before food became the new target.

As a new mom I have discovered the gift of foresight. I see possible destruction wherever my son goes, and I adjust accordingly to keep both him and my things safe. However, there are instances when I miss the mark.

Panera is my mom and I’s lunch break spot of choice, and baby is always our third wheel. In his carrier he gets a front row look at any table we sit at. A front row look at his possible victims.

Yesterday panera was out of cup-lids. I could already see in my mind’s eye the tsunami of agave-green tea that would waterfall down unto my lap with the tap of an uncontrolled baby finger. I moved it far out of his reach and thought “Crisis averted.”

Wrong.

It was only after my unplanned chicken-noodle soup baptism that I realized my mistake.

Lesson learnt.
